Uranium Production Likely to Miss Target for 2008

WENDELL ZERB, Canaccord Genuity
"UxC Consulting had projected a 13% increase in production for 2007 over 2006, when in fact production increased by only 4.5%. UxC Consulting is projecting production to increase by 14% in 2008; however, with the various delays and with one-third of 2008 already behind us, we suggest that production will not likely meet this target for 2008.

Meanwhile, the latest projection for nuclear power plants (from World Nuclear Association) in January 2008 has 439 operating, 34 under construction, 93 planned and 222 proposed. Under this scenario, projected uranium requirements by 2020 are estimated at approximately 275 million pounds U308." (4/23/08)
