Last week saw plans unveiled for what would be Britain's biggest mining venture since the days of coal.

Aim-listed Sirius Minerals hopes to become a global force in the potash industry by developing a venture which mines the fertiliser on the North Yorkshire coast.

After studies showed the development between Whitby and Scarborough was viable, management on Monday outlined a $6bn (£3.6bn) investment program, including a start-up capital cost of $2.7B.

Sirius needs the hefty capital injection to get its venture up and running because it will be digging deep underground, rather than via an open-pit mine, and also wants to build processing facilities. . . .View Full Article
