Energy shares were mixed at a mid-day check after crude moved above $77 a barrel but remained lower on the day. Crude-oil for September delivery was currently down $0.88, or 1.13% at $77.86 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. In energy sector news, BP PLC (BP) is fighting with plaintiffs looking for billions of dollars for damages stemming from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill over where the cases should be heard first, according to a Bloomberg report. A panel of federal judges in Boise, Idaho is set to hear arguments on which city will host the suits, the report said. Exxon Mobil (XOM) is in the red at mid-day, sliding from opening levels as high as 61.88 to a recent low of 60.29.
