Expert Analysis
Michael Berry, Morning Notes (11/15/11) "Grand Portage Resources Ltd. reported further drill results on the Grand Portage/Quaterra Resources (65/35) joint venture on the Herbert Glacier project immediately north of Juneau, Alaska; once again, the results were excellent; though not quite as high grade in gold and silver as the previous results, they significantly extend the minerlaization of the DeepTrench vein along strike. To me this implies that this emerging gold/silver project has the potential to be world class."
The Gold Report Interview with MIchael Berry
(11/2/11)
"It is still very early days, but Grande Portage and Quaterra have formed a joint venture to explore the vein systems discovered in 1988 by Echo Bay and the Bureau of Mines at the Herbert Glacier. Quaterra has a 35% interest and Grande Portage a 65% interest ongoing in the discovery. Herbert Glacier itself has been receding since 1740 and it is rough territory. With the drill these two companies have made what I think could become a major discovery. There are six east-west parallel veins. They are mesothermal, so they go to depth and they appear to be very high-grade in gold and silver. There is also copper, zinc, lead and tungsten. I've been up there twice to visit it.
They have drilled about 65 holes on five of the veins. For example, in two of the holes, there's 3.05 meters (m) of 2.314 oz gold on the main vein and 1.73m of 38.8 oz silver as well as 3% zinc and lead and anomalous copper. Another drill hole returned 15.27m averaging 1.08 oz/ton of gold at depth of 137.1m. I believe that by the end of the next drill program in June 2012, there will be a significant NI 43-101 resource. There is now a chance Herbert Glacier could become a mine. It's a developing beauty. Remember that Juneau gold district hosted the AJ and Treadwell mines early in the 20th century. There is a lot of gold to be discovered in the area."
Michael Berry, Morning Notes (10/13/11) "Grande Portage Resources Ltd. and Quaterra Resources jointly announced the results of the most recent drill program on their Herbert Glacier project 20 mi. northeast of Juneau, Alaska. . .the site contains six parallel east-west quartz vein systems; several of these veins outcrop. . .the results of yesterday's announcements were superb; almost 1m of 2.16 oz. gold and 2.72 oz. silver are extremely high grades. Hole 11i-4 contained even more surprises. Another intercept of 1.73m assayed at 1 oz./ton gold and 38.8 oz./ton silver with 3% lead and zinc and anomalous copper. . .we expect a great deal more discovery and a resource definition. Stay tuned for more positive surprises."
Michael Berry, Morning Notes (9/14/11) "I spent the last few days in Juneau Alaska visiting the new gold discovery that the Grande Portage Resources Ltd. / Quaterra Resources, Inc. joint venture appears to have made. In the last two decades of visiting core shacks and drill sites, I have never seen so much visible gold in the drill cores. . .[they] are by far the highest gold grades in the area. . .we think the mesothermal vein system at Herbert Glacier could eventually equal or exceed the proven and probable gold reserves at Kensington of 1.5 Moz. . .we were also pleasantly surprised by the amount of silver the company currently released in its most recent drill results."
Michael Berry, Morning Notes (8/11/11) "Grande Portage Resources Ltd. may have discovered a major high-grade gold resource at Juneau's Herbert Glacier. . .the company is a very cheap discovery opportunity, given gold's recent levels."
